The Service de la sécurité incendie continued its home visits in order to identify persons requiring special consideration. 1064 out of the 1473 targeted homes were visited. Nine (9) individuals were removed from the registry (moved or passed away) and 22 were added, bringing the total number of people registered for the adapted emergency measure plan to 58.
The Service des communications promoted the registry during Disability Awareness Week in June 2016. Individuals may register to be included on the list of adapted emergency measures by visiting the Town’s web site at http://www.ville.saint-lazare.qc.ca/en/mobilitereduite.
Provide transportation to the municipal shelter for the home-bound in case of emergency or in dangerous situations (extreme cold, power failures, etc.)

The Town has renewed its agreement for disaster services with the Canadian Red Cross (resolution 10-408-16).
Surveillance cameras were installed in Parc Équestre (resolution 06-257-16-) as well as at the fire station and in Parc nature Les-Forestiers-de-Saint-Lazare (resolution 02-257-16).
The Town launched its community alert system and continues to promote registration. In 2016, a total of 6,863 residents and 311 businesses registered to receive alerts.

Improve the layout of problematic intersections in order to develop the active transportation network (bike paths, pedestrian crossings) and provide safe walking and cycling conditions to places such as schools, parks and stores

A safe school transportation plan (Nature-Action) for Forest Hill Senior, Evergreen and Des Étriers schools (March-April) is anticipated to be created in 2017 and implemented in the Fall of 2017 and 2018.
With a view to improving safety at the new intersection of Frontenac, Des Libellules and Chemin Sainte-Angélique, which leads to the Cité-des-Champs residential development and the new Des Étriers school located at 990 Des Abeilles Street, the Town has requested and obtained authorization from the Ministère des Transports, de la Mobilité durable et de l’Électrification des transports (MTMDET) to lower the speed limit from 70 km/h to 50 km/h on Chemin Sainte-Angélique over a distance of 540 metres starting at Cité-des-Jeunes towards the north; a stop sign was added at the intersection; a pedestrian crossing was added; the crossing was secured by adding a crossing guard to help the children across the intersection in the morning and at the end of the school day and thereby prevent traffic accidents.
The speed limit was also set to 40 km/h on new streets for the Cité-des-Champs and Cité-des-Papillons developments: Des Abeilles, Place des Argus, Des Chenilles, Des Coccinelles, Des Coliades, Des Libellules, Des Lucioles, Des Monarques, Des Moirés, Des Nacrés and Des Saturnies.
And for the following new streets: Germain-Pilon, Des Hostas, Ivor-McLeod, De la Récolte and De la Violoncelle (resolutions 10-373-16 and 10-378-16).
Redevelopment of the Chemin Sainte-Angélique, Daniel and Des Cèdres intersection is expected to be completed in 2017 in order to ensure safe access to Auclair school (pedestrian crossing, addition of a crossing guard and reduction of entrances for the Blais Garage and La Belle Province restaurant).
Other improvements are currently being assessed to ensure the safety of students at bus drop-off locations.
Continue developing the cycling network

The bike path was extended on Côte Saint-Charles and Chemin Sainte-Angélique (resolution 03-101-16).
Bike lane sections were developed along Les Cèdres Street to provide access to Auclair school and along Chemin Sainte-Angélique between Les Cèdres and Des Marguerites streets leading to Bédard Park (resolution 02-254-16).
A bike path was also implemented along Chemin Sainte-Angélique between Des Libellules and Des Lucioles streets up to Des Abeilles all the way to the new Des Étriers school (resolution 07-301-16).
A bike path was also implemented along Chemin Lotbinière from Montée St-Robert all the way to Parc nature Les-Forestiers-de-Saint-Lazare in order to allow young people to safely bike to day camp (resolution 09-347-16).

The Town carried out a complete renovation of the pool building at Parc nature Les-Forestiers-de-Saint-Lazare (resolution 04-175-16) and used this as an opportunity to adapt the toilets and add automatic door openers.
The Service des infrastructures replaced the regular water fountain at the Community Centre with an adapted fountain that includes a water bottle filling tap.

The new municipal park on Des Abeilles Street will be developed in 2017 (resolution 07-300-16) as a complement to the school park and while taking into account the needs of individuals with disabilities or reduced mobility.
Construction of the new town hall will take accessibility into consideration by including street-level access, an elevator, etc. in 2017.
The new fire station has street-level access. Services are accessible on the ground floor. Sidewalks and bathrooms are also accessible to those with reduced mobility.
The Service des infrastructures completed construction of the parking lot for the municipal workshops while taking accessibility into consideration (parking spots, accessible sidewalk).
Raise awareness of universal accessibility within the business community (wheelchair access to businesses and within aisles, benches where seniors can sit and rest, visual and hearing impairment, strollers, etc.)

A press release was sent to the newspapers and the Association des gens d’affaires de Saint-Lazare during Disability Awareness Week in June.

The new municipal park on Des Abeilles Street will be developed in 2017 (resolution 07-300-16) as a complement to the school park and while taking into account the needs of individuals with disabilities or reduced mobility.
Construction of the new town hall will take accessibility into consideration by including street-level access, an elevator, etc. in 2017.
The new fire station has street-level access. Services are accessible on the ground floor. Sidewalks and bathrooms are also accessible to those with reduced mobility.
The Service des infrastructures completed construction of the parking lot for the municipal workshops while taking accessibility into consideration (parking spots, accessible sidewalk).
Raise awareness of universal accessibility within the business community (wheelchair access to businesses and within aisles, benches where seniors can sit and rest, visual and hearing impairment, strollers, etc.)

A press release was sent to the newspapers and the Association des gens d’affaires de Saint-Lazare during Disability Awareness Week in June.
The Town will evaluate the possibility of adding certain accessibility requirements for all new constructions or additions made to existing constructions, either as part of the evaluation process conducted by the Urban Planning Advisory Committee (to include accessibility measures) or as part of set regulations.
An awareness campaign for retail businesses will be prepared in 2017.
Serve Tuesday’s shared meals in a location more easily accessible than the church basement
