Two defibrillators and provides Hero in Thirty training for senior safety

Saint-Lazare (Quebec), February 8, 2017 – On February 7, 2017, the Head of the First Responders for the public safety and fire safety department for the Town of Saint-Lazare, Mr. Patrick Lefebvre, made two (2) defibrillators available in the entrance halls of the Coopérative d’habitation les Retraités de Saint-Lazare, an initiative included as part of the the public safety and fire safety department guidelines with the first responder program and also, as a part of the Municipal Family Policy and the Senior-Friendly  Municipality Approach. This investment of close to $5,000 aims to provide rapid access to defibrillation, which greatly increases the chances of successful resuscitation.

In an effort to further ensure the safety of our seniors, the public safety and fire safety department will also be offering several Hero in Thirty training sessions adapted to seniors 60 years of age or older. These 30-minute training sessions prepare seniors to quickly intervene in situations where life-saving interventions are required. Training will take place at the new fire station, located at 1800 Bédard Avenue.

Seniors will be invited to register starting Monday, February 13, 2017, either online at www.ville.saint-lazare.qc.ca/en/heros  or by phone at 450 424-8000, extension 215.

Recall that, in 2008, the Town provided an $84,000 grant to the Coop as part of the AccèsLogis Québec program for the purchase of the lot and the cost of land development. This investment aims to allow Saint-Lazare’s seniors to live out their golden years in our community.
